Itinerary
Arrive in Vythiri
You can catch a bus to Vythiri from Bengaluru or Kozhikode to Vythiri Bus Stop. There is no elaborate bus stand, so you can stay in touch with us for the exact location. Once you reach, a vehicle will be arranged to take you straight to the resort. You have the option to embark on a 1-2 hour walk to the resort through some thick forests and have a good chance to spot some Bisons. The resort is located in the midst of the wilderness with scenic views of Wayanad in all its glory. The place, in itself, offers you the warmth of a homestay rather than a formal environment. The owner has opened his doors to tourists so that they can share in the delight of living in a space this remote and rejuvenating. Use the rest of the day to unwind and breathe in some fresh unfiltered air; a luxury for most these days. You can stroll around the estate and learn all about Vythiri while making acquaintance with the other members of the Roads & Journeys group. There is also a viewpoint where you can spend hours on end. There is a little waterfall in the vicinity where you can take a refreshing dip. The walk to the waterfall itself is something worth experiencing. After a simple but hearty meal, retire for the night.
Chembra Peak
What could be more exciting than a trek to the highest peak in Wayanad? Chembra peak (2,100 m) is visible from almost all parts of Wayanad and it takes at least three hours to reach the top point.This is the most adventurous trip of your Vythiri experience. As the trek consists of a few ascents, make sure you in good shape physically. After an early breakfast, hop into the jeep and get driven to base of peak. Here we will have to take permission from the Meppady forest office before venturing on the trek as it is a protected region. The trek, in itself, is a picturesque journey into the forest right until you reach the open grasslands as you come closer to the top. The peak is also known for its heart-shaped lake located at the top. This region is one of the few areas that tourists are allowed to venture into. There is also a viewpoint that gives you panaromic views of Wayanad. Wrap up just in time for lunch and proceed back to the resort for a leisure evening.
Resort
Day three is exclusively reserved for you to plan your own itinerary, for which we will gladly assist you, or to simply relax in the resort itself. The charges will be incurred by you if you choose to take on any activities on these days, but we recommend that you take the time to unwind by the green cover of the resort and relish the much needed quiet time that is so frugally available in today’s times. You can take short walks to nearby plantation or a waterfall.
Pookode Lake
Today is an inviting trip to a scenic freshwater lake called Pookode lake. It is a natural freshwater lake nestling amid evergreen forests and mountain slopes at an altitude of 770 meters above sea level. It is also the highest altitude lake in Kerala. The resort will provide us with a jeep that will drive us to the lake. Get ready for a day that involves nothing more than finding a quiet corner and soaking in the sunlight while the cool breeze plants gentle kisses on your cheek. Once you reach the lake, you are free to go about on your own. Find your spot by the lake or walk around its circumference. It’s all about doing nothing but enjoying your time off from civilization. We’ll return back to resort in time for lunch and then, once again, you have the time to go about your own activities until nightfall.
Departure
On the last day we will bring you back to the bus stand where we bid adieu and hope that you embark on another journey will us soon.
Terms & Conditions
1. Stay: Stay on the last day is not included in the fee.
2. Transport: Transport from Vythri to the resort and back is arranged by us at no extra cost.
3. Pick-up: Participants are picked up from the Vythiri bus stop. Most participants opt for the Roads & Journeys pick up and we assume the same in your case. In case you do not want the Roads & Journeys pick up you will have to make your own travel arrangements.
